Terminator' Star Summer Glau Went Completely Off The Map

Publish date: 2024-06-10

Movie franchises making the jump to the small screen is something that is becoming far more prevalent in this day and age, as Marvel and Star Wars have been making waves with their offerings on Disney+. Over time, we could see more of these franchises do the same thing in an attempt to cash in with the fans.

During the 2000s, the Terminator franchise was ahead of the curve and looking for TV success. Summer Glau used her time in the franchise to pick up steam as an actress, but she seemingly disappeared.

Let's take a look at Summer Glau and see where she is now.

Summer Glau Had Success In Acting

As an actress with plenty of film and television acting experience, Summer Glau was able to find success in acting thanks to putting in the work and seizing the right opportunities. She was never an A-list star, but this did not stop Glau from landing in some notable projects that helped her find fans over time.

On the big screen, the actress was able to land roles in projects like Sleepover, Serenity, and Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. Amazingly, the DC project she took part in saw her voicing Supergirl, which had to have felt great for the actress.

Glau's television work was a bit more impressive than her film work. The actress had the chance to work on projects like Angel, Firefly, Cold Case, CSI, The Big Bang Theory, Dollhouse, Chuck, Grey's Anatomy, and Arrow. No matter how you slice it, that is an impressive list of credits.

Of course, many people will know Glau best from her work on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

She Was Great On 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles'

For just north of 30 episodes, Summer Glau was a featured performer on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which hit the small screen back in 2008 with a lot of hype behind it. It was the next entry in the beloved Terminator franchise, and it boasted a talented cast, as well.

Starring Lena Headey, Brian Austin Green, and Summer Glau, this series had a lot going for it. Glau, despite having her reservations, would up being a fantastic addition to the show during production.

"And it’s been great, you know, as a girl playing a role like this. I always look for roles that make me feel good about being a woman, and that’s not always easy. But I think on our show in particular, we’re so empowered and we have a place of importance in the script. It’s really gratifying as an actress," she said in an interview.

Despite everything going for it, the show was only able to last for 2 seasons on the air. Many fans wanted it to keep going, but this was simply not in the cards for the show.

It has been quite some time since Summer Glau has been featured in a major project, and this has led fans to grow curious about where in the world she has been and what she has been up to in recent years.

She Seemingly Disappeared

So, where has Summer Glau been and what has she been up to recently? Well, Glau does perform infrequently, but from the look of things, it seems like the actress is more focused on her family life these days as opposed to taking part in the Hollywood grind, a decision that most people totally understand.

According to The Teal Mango, "Glau’s first daughter was born in 2015, and her second daughter was born in 2017. Summer started to tone down her acting career after the birth of her first baby. Well, she’s happy with her family and concentrating on them."

It's not too often that a star will make the decision to largely focus on their family instead of their career, but we have seen major names like Cameron Diaz do the exact same thing. It's nice to find success in Hollywood, but that also comes with losing out on quality time with the little ones while they're growing up.

Now, we did mention that Glau performs infrequently, and a look over at her IMDb will show that she has not appeared in anything since 2019. Prior to this, she had a 3-year gap between appearances, and the site shows that she has nothing on tap in the near future, which could signify either another extended break or even a retirement from acting in film and television projects.
