Everybody Loves Raymond Star- Doris Roberts Dies Aged 90
Actress Doris Roberts, who made her name as Marie Barone in the 90’s fan favourite sitcom ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, has died aged 90.
The actress died in her home in Los Angeles Sunday in her sleep, a family spokesperson said.
Roberts earned worldwide fame for playing the meddling mother-in-law Marie Barone in the award winning sitcom. The show ran for nine seasons between 1996 and 2005, winning several screen awards- with Roberts winning five Emmys and a Screen Actors Guild award.
Several co-stars have paid tribute to Roberts, including comedian Ray Romano, upon whom the show is loosely based, and who played her on-screen son.
“Whether working professionally or with her many charities, or just nurturing and mentoring a green young comic trying to make it as an actor, she did everything with such a grand love for life and people and I will miss her dearly.” he said.
