Does Mila Kunis Have Tattoos?
Mila Kunis is no stranger to playing free-spirited characters who enjoy decorating their body with ink, but does that make her a fan of tattoos?
Mila Kunis doesn’t have any confirmed tattoos. She had a temporary body art in the critically acclaimed film Black Swan, while the rest of the photos that show her with tattoos are mostly edited.
Stick around to learn more about Mila Kunis’ temporary tattoos and find out why she doesn’t have any permanent ones.
The “Black Swan” Tattoo
Most people started wondering if Mila Kunis has any tattoos after watching Black Swan. Her character Lilly had a beautiful ink of blooming lilies on her back. This is an obvious reference to her name, but her body art probably had a much deeper meaning.
Black Swan followed the journey of a professional ballet dancer Nina Sayers (Natalie Portman), who struggles to maintain her sanity while preparing for the lead role in a production of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
Mila’s character Lily was introduced as Nina’s rival, and the actress said they are polar opposites of each other while discussing her role in Black Swan with Collider:
“My character is everything that [Nina] wants to be in life… My character is very loose. The talent that my character has at ballet comes naturally to her. She’s not as technically good as Natalie’s character, but she has more passion, naturally. That’s what Natalie’s character lacks.”
Temporary tattoos often take a lot of time to apply, so there’s probably a pretty good reason why Mila’s character has one. Body art is not that common in the world of professional ballet, and Lily’s ink is another evidence of her free-spirited nature.
Her tattoo also comes into play during a love scene between Nina and Lily that takes place after a crazy night out. Her floral ink is replaced by a pair of wings, and it later turns out that the whole thing was a hallucination and that they never left the club together.
Other Temporary Tattoos
The body art from Black Swan is the first thing that comes to mind whenever someone mentions Mila Kunis’ tattoo, but it’s not the only temporary ink she was spotted with over the years.
Several photos of Kunis with body art circulated online, leading people to believe that she has tattoos, but it’s possible that some of them were fan-made. That’s the case with an edited version of her GQ cover from 2011, which shows her with flower, revolver, and star tattoos.
Judging by original outtakes from this photoshoot, temporary tattoos weren’t actually applied to Kunis’ body. They were added later by her Photoshop-savvy fans, which is pretty obvious when these photos are compared.
Inked Celeb listed a couple more of Kunis’ photos with tattoos, but most of them were edited later, just like her GQ cover. Long story short, the Golden Globe-nominated actress only rocks tattoos when a role calls for it, but is there a reason why she avoids them?
Tattoo-Free Couple
Mila Kunis never spoke publicly against tattoos, but her stance on plastic surgery could explain why she doesn’t feel like making any adjustments to her body:
“I will not put a needle in my body unless I have a medical reason, but ask me in 10 years. Right now, I’m like, ‘I’m going to embrace it,’ but… I’m probably going to want to have something done. I have no doubt,” Kunis told Harper’s Bazaar.
Her husband Ashton Kutcher also doesn’t have any permanent tattoos. They met on the set of That 70s Show and started dating several years after this sitcom wrapped up. The couple got married in 2015, and they have two children together.
Just like Kunis, Kutcher had a memorable temporary tattoo in one of his movies. The hit comedy Dude, Where’s My Car? featured a scene where two main characters realized they got tattoos that spelled words “dude” and “sweet” on their backs.
