Darude is a Finnish DJ and record producer. He is also known as Rude Boy and Da Rude. He is known for his hit single “Sandstorm.” He co-founded the record label enMass music.

Darude is married to American, Michelle, with whom he has two children.

Darude’s patrilineal line can be traced back to his seventh great-grandfather, Heikki Isakinpoika.

Darude’s paternal grandfather was Into Johannes Virtanen (the son of Frans Niilo Virtanen and Helmi Aleksandra Kangassalo). Into was born in Hinnerjoki (now part of Eura), Satakunta. Frans was the son of Juho Kallenpoika Wallenström (later Virtanen) and Maria Vilhelmiina Kustaantytär Karén. Helmi was the daughter of Iisak Nestor Juhonpoika Kangassalo and Aleksandra Juhontytär Lehtikangas.

Darude’s paternal grandmother was named Emmi Sainila. She was born in Pyhäntä, Northern Ostrobothnia.

Darude’s maternal grandfather was named Erkki Karhu. He was born in Eura, Satakunta.

Darude’s maternal grandmother was Hilja Esteri Itkonen (the daughter of Juhana Taavetti Itkonen and Maria Eliisa Huovinen). Hilja was born in Utajärvi, Northern Ostrobothnia. Juhana was the son of Joseppi Itkonen and Fredrika Henrika Vauhkhonen. Maria Eliisa was the daughter of Simo Huovinen and Elsa Stiina Juhontytär Karppinen.
