7 Celebrities with Religious Tattoos
It’s no secret that celebrities love tattoos. In fact, it’s hard to find someone in the public eye nowadays that doesn’t have a sleeve of tattoos on their arms and across their body; it has become part and parcel of modern life. Though their tattoos differ, with many inspired by their fame and their love of their fans, some celebrities proudly wear god on their sleeves.
Below, we’ve put together some of the most famous celebrities who have religious tattoos.
Justin Timberlake
Cry Me a River singer Justin Timberlake has made no secret of the fact he’s religious, with many of his songs referencing God and higher powers. For more than 10 years, he’s proudly sported a Celtic cross on his arm, symbolizing his love of his religion to keep him grounded. Want to follow suit but don’t have the guts for a tattoo? The good news is you can now buy stunning Celtic cross jewelry that allows you to profess your love of God without needles!
Justin Bieber
Heartthrob Justin Bieber has dozens of tattoos, but it was his March 2016 tattoo that caused the most uproar. The singer decided to get a small cross tattoed onto his face, just under his eye. Speaking of the tattoo, the artist who was responsible told E! News that it was a “representation of his faith in Jesus and his journey with finding purpose in God.” It’s not for everyone, but if it makes Justin happy and brings him closer to God, then we can’t complain.
Katy Perry
Everyone’s favorite pop star Katy Perry got her first tattoo when she was just 18 years of age. She had Jesus written on her left wrist, as she comes from a religious family with both parents working as evangelical ministers. In fact, Perry’s first album was inspired by God, before she broke onto the scene with I Kissed a Girl and then headlined the SuperBowl.
Sinead O’Connor
Nothing Compares 2 U is one of the most beautiful songs of our generation, and God has played a big role in songwriter Sinead O’Connor’s life. The singer has a large tattoo of Jesus on her chest, though has converted to Islam with several new tattoos added to her collection.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga has more than twenty tattoos and most of them are on the left side of her body; she says it’s because her dad wanted her to keep at least part of her body pure. Back in 2012, when promoting her first fragrance FAME, the singer got a cherub tattooed on the back of her head live on her YouTube channel, shaving off a triangle shape in her hair. The hair has since grown over, but the cherub remains, now permanently part of Gaga’s body.
Lil Wayne
Rapper Lil Wayne is covered in ink, but it’s his religious Fear God tattoo that really gets people talking, designed to keep him on the straight and narrow. The Lollipop singer has the tattoo over his eyelids; we can’t even imagine how painful that must’ve been at the time!
David Beckham
Finally, everyone’s favorite football legend David Beckham. He got a Hebrew tattoo on his arm from Proverbs 3:1: “My son, do not forget my teaching but keep my commands in your heart,” and wife Victoria followed suit with a Hebrew script reading “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.” It’s clear the couple is spiritual and religious, and we love them for it.
